Founder & Designer Scott Loring

Scott’s love of gemstones began at a young age, with his formative years spent exploring and fossicking among the hills of Cape Barren Island. It was here, on a rugged and remote island off the coast of Tasmania, that he discovered a small collection of amethyst crystals—an experience that ignited his passion for gemmology and set him on the path to what continues to be a diverse and dynamic career.

A lifelong learner, educator, and creative, Scott holds a degree in Design and Education, a Diploma of Gemmology, and is a qualified diamond grader, jewellery valuer, and pearl expert. Combined with a trade qualification in welding and a background in the design and manufacture of bespoke furniture, Scott brings a rare and well-rounded expertise to the world of jewellery.

As a jewellery designer, Scott is a critical thinker with an outside-the-box approach to design, function, and form. The Engagement by Scott Loring Collection is inspired by his love of architecture, provenance, and the unique adventure of falling in love.

We can create virtual 3D models and pre-fab physical models from affordable, low-grade materials for you to try before committing to your design at request.
