We’re all a little bit partial to a love story, especially a royal love story, the latest, of course, being the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle. Following their wedding, The Economic Times reported that 1.9 Billion people tuned in to view the pair tie the knot. We too have watched keenly as articles pop up in our social media feed of Meghan’s stunning outfits and her enviable meal plans, but as purveyors of fine jewellery, we have developed an affinity for Meghan’s gorgeous engagement ring!
Meghan’s Engagement Ring
In an engagement interview, Meghan recalls the moment Prince Harry asked her to marry him over a roast chicken dinner. At that moment, Harry proposed to Meghan with a 3-carat cushion cut diamond engagement ring. This style of ring is a popular cut, and we imagine it was specifically chosen for its antique shape and romantic style.
Designing Something Unique
And whilst we are completely dazzled by Meghan’s ring, we swoon just that little bit more learning of the romance in the story behind the ring. Like many of our loved-up clients, it seems the ever romantic Prince Harry was not content to propose with any old ring (or in his case, wrangle something sparkly from the royal jewel cupboard), instead he designed something special with their love story at the centre of the ring.
Harry sourced the cushion cut diamond from Botswana, where the couple holidayed in the early stages of their relationship. The smaller round brilliant cut shoulder stones once belonged to his mother, Princess Diana and were included “to make sure she’s with us on this crazy journey together” Harry said during the couples first formal interview with the BBC.
