Happily Ever After: Gabby and Josh

Happily Ever After: Gabby and Josh

Creating bridal jewellery is such a personal experience. It requires building a connection with each couple, learning their story, so we can infuse the essence of their journey into their unique engagement ring or wedding bands. Recently, we reconnected with our beautiful clients, Gabby and Josh, who have officially tied the knot and begun to live out their ‘happily ever after’.

Gabby’s engagement ring was a stunning pear cut diamond ring in white gold, featuring a spectacular halo of small diamonds and a pavé diamond band. For their wedding bands, they chose a 9ct white gold band for Josh, and one of our Eternity Rings for Gabby.

Each couple has their own unique story and wisdom to share. If you’d like to share a little of your love story and experience working with us, we invite you to get in touch.

Introducing Gabby and Josh…

How did you meet?

Josh and I met in high school – a friend gave my number to her boyfriend’s best mate which turned out to be Josh. After that, we met up for the usual high school date – a movie and lunch. We’ve been together 11 years this October.

What was the ring-buying process like? Gabby, did you always know what kind of ring you wanted? How did Josh’s pick measure up?

I always knew I wanted a pear cut diamond – and over the years together I made sure Josh knew this. I love the vintage and timeless look the pear cut has and Josh did not disappoint with the ring he chose. The sizing was something Josh was all over, he showed Scott a photo of my hands to help with the size of diamond, so it suited.

I am so glad he chose the ring and jewellers he did, Scott was truly amazing and nothing was a hassle! When it came to our wedding rings, we felt at ease knowing that what we wanted was going to be created.

Josh, can you tell us about how you proposed to Gabby?

I proposed to Gabby at Nine Mile Beach, Dolphins Sands, on New Years Eve 2017. We were heading away to the coast to celebrate the new year with our friends, I wanted to leave home a bit earlier than our friends so that we could go on a walk just to the two of us along the beach.

Although Gabby was a bit confused and wasn’t really into the idea, I convinced her and thank goodness as it was picture perfect. The weather was amazing and the beautiful scenery of the Freycinet Hazards behind us was just the right spot to drop to one knee and propose to Gabby.

Gabby, can you tell us a bit about your wedding day?

Our day was beyond perfect, we were surrounded by our family and friends who were all so excited to celebrate the love we share. Each vendor we chose created more than we could have ever imagined, paying careful attention to every detail, captured in our beautiful photographs.  Our ceremony was completely us; relaxed, intimate and filled with love and laughter. It told the story of our love and reminded us how blessed we are to have such special people in our lives. Our dear friend wrote a poem especially for our ceremony and delivered it with such love, respect and eloquence.

Our friends and family still speak of the beauty, intimacy and stunning details of our ceremony. From the second our ceremony ended the party started, with drinks and award-winning gin served in the breathtaking barn at Shene Distillery. It was perfect to have such a relaxed vibe as we greeted our guests for the first time as husband and wife.

Our guests then departed on the bus to get to our amazing reception venue, Coal River Farm. Our reception continued to provide the perfect mix of relaxation and partying; delicious food and drinks, lots of good (and bad) dancing and heart-warming speeches from some of the incredible people in our lives. We had speeches from each of our fathers, the best man and the maid of honour: It took our breath away from both feeling so overjoyed by the relationships we have and from all the laughs, as you can see in our photos!

We also had my brother MC our reception. It was a great choice as he made the night run so smoothly, all while entertaining our guests with some light banter! It was just what we wanted.

What is your secret to a happy marriage?

I think our secret to a ‘happy marriage’ would be the understanding that we won’t be ‘happy’ every day, there will be times that are tough but remembering we have each other through all those tough times. Josh and I have had many highs and lows throughout our time together, essentially having grown up together, and I think that has made us really strong. We know each other so well and that helps when times are tough and makes the good times even better. I think communication and understanding also help us – when you’re both reading from the same page it makes the world of difference.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone planning their wedding, what would it be?

I think it would be to always remember what’s important to you and why this celebration is so special – whatever that may mean to you as a couple. For us, it was the people who have helped us get to this point in our lives: our friends and family. It was also a nice touch for us to have our fur baby, Murphy, to come along and be a part of our day.

I think making choices that reflect your style as a couple is so important to feel emotionally and physically connected to the day. The vendors you choose have a major influence on your day, so choose whose who will help give your day the feel you want it to.

My final piece of advice is to appreciate how photos and videos can perfectly capture your experience. It all happens so quickly and having the photos and video footage to look back on is so special. So don’t hold back here; go for the photographer and videographer that you love. It is so worth it. Most of all, remember to relax and enjoy – it’s your day!
